2012 Men's C Western Canadian Champions - Victoria Devils
The Men's C Western Canadian Regionals Gold Medal game was nothing new to the Victoria Devil's veteran squad. They were there once before in Edmonton 2009 where they came up a bit short and captured the Silver Medal. Now poised to take another shot at glory the Victoria Devils were to face a young up and comming team into the Men's game the Winnipeg Rummies who consists mainly of 19 year old players with a few veteran leaders. The Devils skilled forward Pat Nelson opened the scoring at 6:11 of the first period followed up by a second tally from teammate Raman Dale just 47 seconds later to give the Victoria squad a 2-0 lead at the end of the period. Just 28 seconds into the second period Shaun Jeannotte opend the lead to three goals. The Rummies Brett Charette fought back to score at 13:27 and make it 3-1. With 4:12 remaining Pat Nelson from Victoria scored his second of the game followed by Winnpieg's Danick Levesque scoring with 1:38 remaining but the Winnipeg squad led by Head Coach Ray Cook came up just short as the veteran team from Victoria claimed the Gold Medal with a 4-2 win.
