BC Ball Hockey Eligibility Statement

BC Ball Hockey Community,

The BC Ball Hockey Association (BCBHA) has released a statement to make it clear who can participate in official ball hockey events. This is to help players and teams understand what they need to take part in BCBHA activities and events organized by its parent organization.

The BCBHA is the only group in British Columbia recognized by the Canada Ball Hockey Association (CBHA), which represents Canada in the International Street & Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF). This membership helps keep the sport connected and organized at local, national, and international levels.

To take part in events like the BC Ball Hockey Provincials, CBHA Nationals (Jack Cup), Western Challenge Cup, and ISBHF World Championships, players and teams must be registered with their local full-member league, or closest geographical full-member if no local league exists, of the BCBHA. These events are funded by members and are only open to those in recognized member leagues, which gives participants access to these important competitions.

For the 2025 season, any player or team in British Columbia that isn’t registered with a BCBHA full-member league will not be eligible to join BCBHA, CBHA, or ISBHF events. This means you must register with a full-member BCBHA league to compete in these tournaments.

The BCBHA also wants to clarify that it has no connection to Coastal Ball Hockey, so teams and leagues under Coastal Ball Hockey are not eligible to participate in any BCBHA, CBHA, or ISBHF events.

While the BCBHA is dedicated to promoting ball hockey in British Columbia, they stress the importance of being part of recognized and trusted leagues to access these opportunities. The BCBHA encourages players and teams to enjoy the sport in the way that suits them best and to make informed registration decisions.
