Vancouver, BC - The Canadian Ball Hockey Association announced Wednesday, Canada’s Men’s National Team players and staff that are preparing their venture to the 10th World Ball Hockey Championships from June 2 - 9, 2013 being hosted on Canadian soil in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.
Team Canada staff was very busy in 2012 scouting various events held across Canada. Thorough scouting of the Men’s “A” Nationals in Edmonton, AB, Western B & C Regional Championships in Kelowna, BC, the Eastern B & C Regional Championships in Montreal, QC and various league play across Canada we left no stone unturned.
This attention to detail and pursuit of excellence has led to Canada’s Men’s National Ball Hockey program in winning four of the last 6 World Championships and building toward our quest to win on home soil in St. John’s in 2013.
“The top-caliber players on the National Team play in various elite leagues across the nation and competed for the chance to represent Canada at the World Championships. Making the final cuts to get the roster down to 25 posed a real challenge for our staff” said Tony Iannitto General Manager & Head Coach of the Men’s National Team.
“It is tough to be scouted as one of the best players in the nation and then not make the cut. But that’s the level of competition we had this year for Team Canada and unfortunately we could only take 25 players,” observed Assistant Coach Ian Moores.
“We’re taking nothing for granted in our preparation for the World Championship. Every team arriving in St. John’s will be hungry and we have to be at the top of our game if we’re going to live up to the expectations our staff and each of our players has placed on themselves,” concluded Assistant Coach Jason Baiani.
“On behalf of the Canadian Ball Hockey Association, I would like to congratulate the players and staff named today, along with their provincial associations, leagues, club teams, families, coaches and officials who have helped them along the way,” said Shelley Callaghan, CBHA President.
