2012 Women's Western Canadian Champions - Vancouver Score-pions

The 2012 Western Canadian Regional Championhips were hosted this past weekend in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia. Twenty of Western Canada's Men's B, C and Women's Teams were there to represent their provinces proudly and enjoy a little of what this great Okanagan city has to offer.

Women's Western Canadian Regional Champions - Vancouver Score-pions

After a record of 3-0 in the round robin the Vancouver Score-pions looked sharp in the first period of the Gold Medal game vs. the BC Sun Dolls. Marianne Cottingham's two goals at 18:11 and 4:59, followed up by a third goal by Hayley Dore with 0:55 left in he first period shot the Score-pions out to a 3-0 lead. The BC Sun Dolls fought back hard during the second period with Anne Gertz netting their first goal early into the second and Linda Mulvhill closing the lead to one on a power play marker with 3:02 remiaing in the game. That was all the home Kelowna squad could manage as the Vancouver Score-pions held them off to win the game 3-2 and the Gold Medal. The Bronze Medal match-up featured the Alberta Craze vs. Saskatchewan Empty 26er's. The Craze's forward Alissa Liska tallied the natural hat trick while golatender Christina McCrindle shut the door in the net to lead the Alberta squad to a 3-0 victory and capture the Bronze Medal.
